A List - The re-launch Party

On Saturday 23rd October 2010 , Croft Atolia from The A-List Club officially opened the newly refurbished club and showed off their new red & black theming inside along with a new upstairs gallery and new logo with a massive re-launch party! Doors opened at 1pm SL/9pm UK to relaunch as London's premier oldies venue.

The contest was "One Year In One Night". Guests were invited to wear outfits from their favourite party from any time in the year. Some wore Christmas. Some wore Halloween and also one or two Easter outfits.

The Prize was L$250, split between first, second, and third place. This was won by Mookychick Gloom who took the 1st place. 2nd place was won by Chihiro Ruby while sara0long Baxton claimed the 3rd spot.

Dj Adrienne (Adrienne Belvedere) was there playing all kinds of music from 60's right up until the end of the 90's, and donna Redrose & Leila Roi were there to host the evening.

The new style theming and colours and logo was very well recieved and the music went down well with all who were present, some even making requests to the dj for a particular track they liked.

The A-List has a loyal fanbase, and welcomes new patrons to the club, be they one off or if they enjoy their experience and return for more again. It has a friendly easy going atmosphere and everyone always enjoys a good banter as a big group.

There are no strangers here, only friends which you never knew you had.

VLFW - Masquerade Ball

After much anticipation, planning and hard work, Virtual London Fashion Week kicked off Sunday October 10th with a Masked Ball. I arrived to find the final touches been made, the street having been turned into a beautiful dance floor with a shiny limo parked outside the entrance to the fashion displays and the scene transformed into something out of a fantasy world with trees that sparkled with blue, white and pink lights. DJ Thom Macbain had got the music started and the patrons started arriving one by one, each dressed more fabulously than the last in flowing gowns, beautiful suits and most, their faces covered with feathers and gorgeous masks. The atmosphere was electric and one could feel the excitement of not only the dance but of all that was being promised throughout the coming week’s events as VLFW officially kicked off.

During the course of the Ball, Shaza Denver and Kat Svenska handed out amazing prizes as they asked various trivia questions to all those present and I was amazed at the value of the gifts been handed out, including some designs by the featured designers to the value of 1000L$. I did try to win one when I realised I could play along (I had been hosting) but someone beat me to it…or I may have got the answer wrong. I’m sure it was the former!

The DJ played popular music and the tips were flying around and I, as host, found myself incredibly busy welcoming people as they came streaming into Kensington non-stop, asking about the competition and the weeks events details.

Rendezvous club hosted the ‘Best in Costume’ competition, which they drew more than once and there were some who, not only winning awesome trivia prizes, also walked away with a little extra cash.

At the end of my shift, Fibi Felisimo took over as host and unfortunately I had to leave due to another commitment, but even then, there was still patrons arriving and the Masked Ball was still in full swing.

VLFW will continue until October 16th with many Designers having their creations on display. Please pop over if you haven’t already and take a look at what is on show.

FOTE10 in London

On October 1, 2010, virtual London played host to the FOTE 10 conference, mirroring the conference taking place in real life London. The event came complete with a recreation of Senate House, where the conference was held, and a live stream of the event. The virtual London conference provided an additional option for attending the conference for those facing travel and other constraints. Those who attended in virtual London were provided with the full conference experience within Second Life, including the ability to interact with the live conference.

Those of us who have been around Second Life and virtual London for any length of time know that this is so much more than a “game.” Although we enter Second Life as virtual representations, Second Life provides unparalleled opportunities to interact with real people from around the world; people we might never have the opportunity to meet or interact with in the real world. Partnerships between Virtually Linked and real world events and business (like the FOTE 10 Conference and Workzmarter) provide opportunity to use technology to bring the world just a little closer together.

PLANS UNVEILED FOR LONDON VIRTUAL FASHION WEEK IN KENSINGTON

LC Angels Modeling Agency has announced plans for the second annual London Virtual Fashion Week at the Kensington London sim. The event will take place on October 10-16, 2010 and will be a gathering of influential designers and fashion gurus from all across Second Life.

Fashions shows, chic parties and vendor booths will be incorporated into the event. All stylish avatars are encouraged to attend. Everyone will be welcome to this annual fashion event. “This is a very big event for us,” said Shaza Denver, LC Angels COO and Events Manager for Virtual London Fashion Week. Denver continued, “The week allows the fashion industry in Second Life a chance to promote their designs in the beautiful setting of the Kensington on the London sim.”

The London sim is a residential sim that has boutique shops and restaurants similar to those of modern day London. The actual venue runway is an artistic interpretation of the real London fashion week runway. Many of the designers who are icons in the Second Life fashion industry will be participating. Some notable names are Evie’s Closet, D Designs, IngaWind, Kastle Rock Couture, and Lady T. Designers have the opportunity to show their styles in daily fashion shows and vendor booths. “Last year we had three fashion shows a day and a huge response to the expo center where designers displayed their latest designs. We hope to double that this year. Designers will be providing gifts for visiting residents of Second Life. We also have many events planned such as the masked ball on opening night and a bridal show that will show case one of our fantastic designers” said Denver, “This is a premier event from a premier agency and expectations for it will be more than met.” The week will kick off with a six hour Masquerade Ball. The ball will take place at the Kensington venue with DJ’s, dancing, partying and fun.

It is a chance to meet other fashionable people in Second Life and ‘hob nob’ with designers, models, and other fashion industry professionals. The event will consist of fashion shows mostly cast with professional Models from LC Angels Agency founded by AngelK Naire. When Ms. Naire went on hiatus in April of this year, management of Angel’s Agency was turned over Shaza Denver. Shaza Denver and Kat Svenska, owner of Larnia Couture merged and created LC Angel’s Agency. The agency hosts fashion shows and events for leading SL designers and has a wide variety of models.
