Steph Lytham: From DJ to Second Life Model!
Popular London DJ Steph Lytham, just recently stepped into the fierce world of SL modeling. London is no stranger to modeling, having put on many Virtual London Fashion Weeks and shows. I talked to Steph to get her views about modeling in SL and she provided the following information:
Why did Steph join Second Life?:
Steph lytham rezzed into SL on November 1st 2010 after overhearing a conversation on a train about secondlife and deciding to check it out.
What or who gave you the idea to try Second Life modeling?
First (and still) a host and DJ on the London sims, she had toyed with the idea of taking up model training on several occasions but wasn't really sure where to start or which schoool to join. A few months later her and a friend were talking, her friend mentioned her model training course she was doing at UCWS. Steph had previously visited the campus and had information on it. On reccomendation from her friend Vicky, she started to watch shows and attended a few styling contests at CWS. She received an invite to join the Hollywood Walk of Fame contest 2011, took part in 2 styling contests and attended some free basic model training that was on offer. She had the bug!
What happened next?
Steph enrolled in the July class at UCWS and began training with vigour. In the next few days she will take her mid term exam before graduating at the end of July. With the help of another graduate from UCWS, she even built her own runway on her land so she could practice, practice, practice. A phrase often coined by the wonderful trainers at UCWS.
Styling musts:
Her main skin is Laq Susan in nougat with various make up tones which can be matched to almost any outfit she wears, yet still feeling like herself. Her shape is her own creation which she'd never part with, as she feels this gives her a unique identity and makes her who she is.

Check out the Team London's Relay for Life in Second Life's Camp Site!
Today was the annual Relay for Life relay in Second Life. Team London was active in the Relay for Life season this year and raised almost 20,000L towards Relay for Life! Team London also participated in the building of a Spring Campsite on the Relay for Life sim of Endure. The theme of the camp site was a lovely spring garden, which was built and organized by London Manager, Rob Fenwitch. Rob was on hand today for the Relay for Life festivities and took a few photos of the Team London camp site and of the other events of the day:

Relay for Life Fundraiser Raises over 12,000Ls!!
Today London held a Relay for Life Fundraiser in Hyde Park. The fundraiser was a success and raised over 12,000L for Relay for Life, the official charity of the American Cancer Society! This event was part of our April Awareness month of events, as we held fundraisers for Japan Disaster Relief and Second Pride. In May we will have a fundraiser for War Child, a charity for children affected by wars. Our event kicked off at 10am with DJ Anakin filling the park with 77 avis, followed by DJ Sweetdizzy who kept the crowd going with her awesome tunage! A special appearance by the Second Life Cheerleading Squad capped a day of fun and fundraising for a great cause. Below are photos of this event:

14 HOUR Royal Wedding Party Recap!
On Friday, April 29, 2011, there were huge celebrations in real life London, to celebrate the wedding of the now Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (Prince William and Kate Middleton)! The party in virtual London was just as huge, as we partied from 8 am to 10 pm slt, for a total of a 14 hour party with djs at every set, including contests! We also had a special 90 minute Muse Tribute Band Concert (look for photos in an upcoming blogpost)!
Our FEATURED Second Life Destination, Royal Wedding Exhibition, which will be left up so people can continue to enjoy the exhibition! Special thanks to all DJ's and Hosts who worked to make our event fun and a huge success and of course thanks to all of the people who partied with us, to give our sim a daily traffic of over 52,000! Luckily for us we are located on private sims so you can directly tp into our sims (supports 100 avis tping and walking around), without having to walk across bridges or do any other fancy maneuvering to enjoy our events. Below are photos from yesterday's record breaking and exciting day:

Weekend Wrapup #2-Easter Party in London!
To celebrate Easter Sunday, London had a huge party in Hyde Park. Kicking off the festivities was DJ Croft with Host Donna who filled the park with 86 people! Croft also had his 3 straight sim crash in Hyde Park (more to follow in a separate post). Following DJ Croft was DJ Crysis with Host Sammy who kept the crowd in a good and fun mood. All guests had their chance to enter our 6,000L Contest Board giveaway and to find a variety of eggs we had on the ground, including eggs that contained freebies and some which contained free lindens! Check out photos from this event:

Weekend Wrap #1-St. George's Day Party
With Saturday being St. George's Day, London had to naturally bring you a huge party for this special day in England! Parties kicked off in our normal clubs, Capital, Retrograde, and Coach & Horses; followed by a huge event in Hyde Park, with DJ Jester kicking things off, followed by a special 90 minute Evanescence Tribute Band Concert. Finishing up the night was DJ Anakin with Host Pagan, keeping everyone partying for 4 hours. One thing I can say is that I am glad we are on private sims, where our capacity is 100 avis and not on the mainland were capacity is 40 avis and we would have had to turn people away, particularly since this event packed in over 80 avis throughout the day! Check out a slideshow from this event:

Easter Bunny in London
It looks like we had a special visitor yesterday!
The Easter Bunny came and laid down lots of eggs for people to find.
I have been told that they were all over the park and regions of London.
I guess we all have to go out and see if we can find them?

Rezz Day Party and Aerosmith Tribute Band Weekend Recap!
What can I say about yesterday?? I had one of the best days in Second Life ever with an 8 hour Rezz Day party, then a special 2 hour Rezz Day party given to me by some of the very best people in Second Life! Lets recap before I continue on how special it was!
The 8 hour party kicked off in Hyde Park, with DJ Sweetdizzy with Host Steph, keeping the crowd rousing with some mega dance tunes! DJ Sweetdizzy aka Dizzy wanted a bit of DJ Anakin’s record 86 avis in Hyde Park and tied this record! After Dizzy guests were treated to a special 2 hour Aerosmith Tribute Band Concert and with me rolling on stage dancing with the band!
After this awesome light show performance, DJ Anakin with Host Steph hit the stage and wouldn’t you know, he broke the record again, this time having a record 90 avis in Hyde Park (good thing we have private sims and are not on the mainland, for the most we could pack on our sims would be 40, which really isn’t a London party with just 40 avis)! To close out the park, DJ Kyle with Host Kristin took the stage and gave a 2 hour dance music mix party with everyone still dancing well past 6pm slt! It will be a rezz day I will never ever forget, more from me in a separate post as I reflect on two years in Second Life. Below are photos from the event:

Cradle Of Filth Tribute - Weekend Photocall
Just see the sheer number of people at this event - this is a slide-show for you all to enjoy a recap of this weekend.
I have just been reliably informed that the traffic count here is over 37,000, along with the 86 people there concurrently - that has to be ANOTHER RECORD !!!
Note the funky Fox in the foreground. That is our own Rob Fenwitch getting down to the beat.
